The Bucket List

So before I get into the main post, I should update everyone on my New Style Of Living! Thanks to a humble 13 dollar VGA cable that i bought, my 32 inch tv has now been transformed into a 32 inch monitor for my laptop! Suddenly my 17 inch laptop screen has doubled in size..lol. Best part is its actually pretty clear, although words can be a bit hard to read, but watching videos is just a charm. Maybe further updates will come when i get like..a PS3 or a new PC...=P

Right, so we're done with that, and now on to the main topic. The Bucket List. To the uninformed, it commonly refers to a list of things a person wants to do before they 'kick the bucket', or die, so to speak. I think everyone has a bucket list in one way or another, whether its clearly written down in point form or if its some vague dream kept secret in one's mind, im sure all of us have some goals we would like to achieve before we konk off.

Anyway, i dont really have a written bucket list per se, but every once inawhile ill see something or remember something and then think "oh yea i really gotta try that one day".

And as days go by, those things that "i really gotta try one day" just gets longer...and longer....until just like how the trash needs to be taken out when it gets too full, so a bucket list must be cleared off before it gets too long.

Recently I cleared 2 things off my bucket list! Not very big or major things, but just one of those things that ive wanted to do? Lets start with the first one.

Singing In Front Of A Live Audience!

Most of you already know by now that im not afraid to belt my lungs out in a karaoke room. But what all of you (except if you happen to work in OSK or are called Wendy Tan or Leow Pok Xian) dont know, is I have now also stepped out on a stage in front of roughly 800 people and gave it my all too!! And all that wouldnt have been possible without the occasion of OSK's annual dinner on March 12.

To quickly answer the questions which I know have popped up immediately after reading that last line - Yes, it was a competition, Yes I sang solo, No I did not win anything and I sang I Have Nothing by Whitney Houston..hahaha.

All my life I've performed in front of many a church crowd, since yearly Family Gathering performances are a must. That has included singing and acting. But to actually stand in front of a large crowd of unknown strangers and sing a song...I've always wanted to know what that's like. Would I be nervous? Would it all come naturally? Would I have a serious case of stage fright? All these questions..and who could answer them, except myself when i try it out for myself?

In the end, it really didnt turn out as bad as I expected. Before the dinner itself there was a round of auditions (or screening more like since no one got cut from auditions anyway), and Boy, that first time i stood up there with only 3 "judges" and a handful of others looking at me, my legs were literally shaking. and i mean Trembling with Capital T! No doubt about it, that day was bad. But subsequently i had to do it on another day, and that was ok. And by the real day, my feet were as sturdy as tree trunks. But though there was no nervousness, i still forgot the first line of the song, and needed the prompter to help. I guess that just shows i was actually nervous, even if i didnt feel it at all..haha

But did i give my best during the performance? I guess i did gain more confidence further into the song, but i was nowhere near to sounding like my usual self laa..and i put the blame squarely on a few beers that loud yam sengs that were held minutes before i went on stage. My voice just turned into this much deeper and croaky version of myself..-___-""

Thank you @wensl88 for being there though oh shit i just typed her twitter name! wtf! , although not in body, but still very close to my heart. Literally. Through a phone in my coat pocket. HAhahah..that really was a stroke of genius..lol

Anyway i was thinking of blogging bout the other thing too..which is the time i called up a radio station and heard my voice on air! But this post has dragged on for too long and its a month since i last blogged! Bad Bad Timekeeping..so i shall post this now. Till next time.. =)
